Be the Refuge Book Launch: A Conversation with Chenxing Han
Join us on Thursday, January 28, 2021, for a conversation with Chenxing Han to discuss her new book, Be the Refuge: Raising the Voices of Asian American Buddhists.
Begun as a research project at IBS, Han’s forthcoming book both critiques the erasure and uplifts the voices of Asian American Buddhists. Han’s work champions Asian American Buddhists as trailblazers, bridge-builders, integrators, and refuge-makers, bringing a fresh perspective to the study of American Buddhism. She will be joined in conversation with IBS Dean Scott Mitchell.
Chenxing Han is a Bay Area–based writer whose publications have appeared in Buddhadharma, Journal of Global Buddhism, Lion’s Roar, Pacific World, Tricycle, and elsewhere. She holds a BA from Stanford University and an MA in Buddhist studies from the Graduate Theological Union. After studying chaplaincy at the Institute of Buddhist Studies in Berkeley, California she worked in spiritual care at a nearby community hospital in Oakland. Be the Refuge (North Atlantic Books) is her first book. www.chenxinghan.com
